The Kings County Fiber Festival

For those of you who couldn’t attend The Kings County Fiber Festival, you missed a special experience. We were there last year but it was far better this year. First of all, it had many more vendors and those vendors were quite varied and very interesting and lovely. Next to us was a young woman who felted up beautiful things including vases and wine bottle toppers. She was quite artistic and therefore her items were unique. This is one of the things that I really enjoy about crafts shows and festivals. It allows one to see the creativity of others and to support their talents. There were quite a few wonderful yarns and it took all of my self control not to buy any as I already have too many yarns waiting for me.

Aside from the yarns, there were other felted items. One booth had the most imaginative felted hats that I can remember having seen.

This would be the perfect place to get something for Halloween.

Along with the yarns and felt, were some crocheted items and this baby in the basket caught my eye. I do not crochet much but this looked adorable.

Of course we had our booth or rather tent there and the biggest hits were our new animal scarves for kids.

Many people were attracted to these cute scarves and wanted to buy them and we had to explain that these were knitting kits that required them to be “knitted up”. In fact, these kits are on the easy side and can be done by a beginning knitter. In fact, for the fiber festival we offered a special deal, buy one and get the second one at half price. What kid would not really love to have one of theses unique scarves when they go off to school this fall? Our designer Carolynne has designed matching doll scarves to go along with the scarves and the patterns will be available to those who buy the scarves for free.

We brought along our “Grab &Go” kit in order to get people’s reaction to t and that was favorable as well.

This is our first accessory in our “Knit Knacks “ section of our website. Are you heading out with your knitting for a trip or just for a ride on the bus and want to have available many accessories without putting them together? Here is one small zippered pouch that already has in it a retractable tape measure, needle gauge, 2 crochet hooks, closing stitch markers, round stitch markers in three sizes, a hanging row counter, a stitch holder, scissors, two sets of needle toppers, cable needles, and 4 yarn needles, (2 steel and 2 plastic). Many of the smaller items are in individual organza bags as you can see. This will be available very soon in time for the holiday season for $34.95.

Well, all went well and was enjoyable until it began to rain about 3 o’clock and then we packed up and went home. Now we must begin to get ready for Vogue Knitting in January.
